On Thursday 14 April 2016, over thirty pupils from eight schools across the STAR Alliance gathered at Riverside Community Primary School in Tadcaster for an exciting day of designing, building and finally battling with their very own K’nex robots.
As well as creating the robots with Knex kits, the pupils connected them to remote control units, which allowed them to drive each ‘bot’ around from a safe distance away!
The highlight of the day was the final battle in the ‘sumo ring’, with contestants gathered around the outside to take turns at driving the robots and cheer on their team mates. The last one on the blue mat is the winner!
K-Bots is a successful and popular programme run for schools in the STAR Alliance and provides primary school pupils with an opportunity to explore key engineering and design skills, as well as having a lot of fun in the process.
