PARLIAMENT IN EDUCATION: PUPILS QUESTION TIME EVENT

ATHELSTAN COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL: QUESTION TIME EVENT

Friday 17th November, 1pm-3pm

As a member of the STAR Alliance, Athelstan Community Primary School is thrilled to be able to invite you to take part in an exciting event planned as part of our Parliament Week celebrations.

On the afternoon of Friday 17th November, we will be hosting a ‘Question Time’ style event where children will be able to pose questions to an expert panel of visitors. Confirmed panellists include:

  • Lord Kirkhope of Harrogate: Serving member of the House of Lords
  • Nigel Adams: MP for Selby and Ainsty
  • Julia Mulligan: North Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner
  • David Buckle: Selby District Council
  • Richard Corbett, MEP for Yorkshire and Humber.

Who can attend this event?

Pupils who serve on the School Council are invited to this event. This is important as School Councils will be provided with a series of tasks to help them prepare for the event.

How will the afternoon be structured?

Children participating in the event should arrive at school no later than 1pm on Friday 17th November. They will then work with other school council members to prepare and discuss the questions they are going to ask members of the panel before the event begins at 2pm.

Will schools need to prepare anything before the event?

All schools who have confirmed their attendance will be provided with a pack of activities and resources to help them prepare for the event. These will need to have been completed before the day of the event.

How much will the event cost?

There is no charge for this event. However, schools will need to provide their own transport to and from Athelstan Community Primary School.
