TA Network Meetings – 2016/2017

 

Three TA Network Meetings will be held in 2016/17 (see below for specific areas to be discussed at each one).

This Network is open to Teaching Assistants in any STAR Teaching School Alliance member school. Please confirm the names of anyone wishing to attend each session to BusinessManager@STARteachingschoolalliance.org 

1.Tuesday 31st January, 1:30 – 3:30pm at Monk Fryston Primary School.

Which intervention for which child?

The training session giving a taster of some of the different interventions available, including how to match the intervention to the child.

The network session will also allow time to share best practice and discussion time.

2. Thursday 4th May, 1:30 – 3:30pm at Riverside Primary School, Tadcaster

(Parking arrangements are very tight around the school – arrive early and expect to park and walk from outside our site, or the central car park in Tadcaster (5-10 mins walk).

·      Inference Training

How to explore what is hidden between the lines in text. Learn more about an intervention that offers significant gains for pupils with weak comprehension skills.

Please bring along a memory stick so that you can have a copy of the Inference handbook and texts.

The network session will also allow time for attendees to share best practice/ideas with each other.

3. Monday 3rd July between 1:30 – 3:30pm, location to be confirmed

Working effectively as part of a valued team.

All these sessions will be led by Jo Brown-Boulton

It was agreed at the Strategic Headteacher meeting that this network would be useful and that costs of any staff cover would be met by individual member schools.
